DUSHANBE, March 13, 2012, Asia-Plus – A driver was injured and his passenger was killed on March 12 as a tree fell on to a car in Dushanbe.
“The accident took place in the center of Dushanbe, opposite the Guliston factory, Monday afternoon, at around 2:06 pm,” Orif Nozimov, a spokesman for the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES), told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the tree fell on to the moving car. “The driver Fathiddin Khalifayev, 31, was injured, while his passenger was killed (the dead man has not been named),” Nozimov said, noting that a rescue operation to extract the victims from the car lasted for more than half an hour.
A probe has been launched into the incident.
