DUSHANBE, April 4, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Warmer temperatures caused a series of avalanches that blocked in several places the highway from Dushanbe to Khorog, the administrative center of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan.
An official source at a CES told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon that avalanches that occurred on April 3 blocked the Dushanbe-Khorog highway in two places – the Tugak and Otashak areas.
Meanwhile, the Khoburabot, Kutezak, Anzob, Sharshar, Maykhoura, Chormaghzak and Fakhrobod passes are open for traffic, the source added.
