DUSHANBE, June 14, 2012, Asia-Plus – An immediate relative of the President of Tajikistan was reportedly attacked overnight.

A source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says Kholmumin Safarov, the husband of Emomali Rahmon’s elder sister, was shot to death in Dushanbe.

According to some sources, Kholmumin Safarov was director of the state unitary enterprise Tajikles (forestry).

A special group comprising representatives from a MoI and the Prosecutor General’s Office has been set up to investigate the incident.
