DUSHANBE, July 25, 2012 Asia-Plus – GBAO governor Qodir Qosim held a meeting with regional administrators in Khorog on July 25. He told those present that President Emomali Rahmon Wednesday morning made a decision to declare ceasefire in Khorog, but not temporary suspension of the military operation as it was said before.
“This decision was made in connection with the fact that there are wounded people and the bodies of those killed may decompose on the streets,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, the demand to surrender weapons remains in force.
The meeting made a decision to set up a commission that will find out whether there are civilian casualties. The commission consists of 20 persons, whom residents of Khorog trust. Among them is also Asia-Plus’s correspondent Marziya Mirzobekova, who is currently in Khorog.
