DUSHANBE, July 27, 2012, Asia-Plus – Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service reports that a source close to the Gorno Badakhshan regional government says the government forces have extended the ceasefire in Khorog until Saturday, July 28. Members of the illegal armed groups will have to lay down weapons by this date.
The current situation in Khorog is relatively calm, shops are open and more people are observed on the streets, the source added.
Earlier, a source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that members of the illegal armed groups were supposed to hand over their weapons to officers of the GBAO police directorate by the noon of July 27 but they did not come to the place agreed.
Meanwhile, more and more videos and photos of events in Khorog are appearing on Internet. On July 27, Reuters posted a photograph made during the funeral of one of civilians killed during the military operation in Khorog.
