KHUJAND, March 4, 2013, Asia-Plus -- One person was killed and it least one another was injured on March 3 as a car fell into a 300-meter precipice in the Ayni district, Sughd province, according to the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province.
The accident took place on the 153rd kilometer of the highway from Khujand, the capital of Sughd province to Dushanbe. “Bakhtovar Nouraliyev, 25, from the Hisor district could not control his Mercedes-Benz and it fell into the precipice,” said the source. “The driver died on the spot while his passenger – Maqsoud Sanginov, 26, from the Spitamen district – sustained various injuries and was taken to the central district hospital in Ayni.”
According to data of the Sughd traffic police department, 45 traffic accidents were reported in the province in February alone; 21 persons were killed and 51 others were injured in those accidents.
