DUSHANBE, June 24, 2013, Asia-Plus – One person was killed and at least thirty-three others were injured as a military truck turned over in the Varzob district on June 23.
The accident took place on the 46th kilometer of the highway from Dushanbe to Khujand, the capital of the northern province of Sughd.
“The truck was carrying recruits to Sughd province,” said Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD). “As a result of the accident, Lieutenant Bayonqul Kholov was killed and thirty-three other servicemen, including two officers, sustained various injuries and were hospitalized.”
The military traffic inspectorate has launched investigation into the accident, the spokesman said.
