KHUJAND, July 2, 2013, Asia-Plus -- One person was killed and at least two others were injured on July 1 as two cars collided with each other in the northern province of Sughd.
According to the Interior Ministry’s office for Sughd, the accident took place in the Bobojonghafurov district, 252nd kilometer of the Dushanbe-Chanak highway.
Toyota, driven by Abdumajid Ibrohimov, 39, reportedly went into oncoming traffic and collided with Opel-Astra, driven by Bahoviddin Sanginov, 26.
“As a result of the collision, Sanginov died on the spot, while Ibrohimov and his passenger, Zarina Komiljonova, 33, sustained various injuries and were taken to the central district hospital in the Bobojonghafurov district,” the source said.
According to the statistical data from the Sughd traffic police department, 114 traffic accidents have been registered in Sughd over the first five months of this year. 45 persons have been killed and 119 others have been injured in those accidents.
