Doctors say that Rustam Mahmoudi’s health, Tajik Consul in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan Province, who was attacked by armed men last Friday, is satisfactory.
Head of the Information Department of the Tajik MFA, Abdulfayz Ataev, told Asia-Plus that the injured was operated on by Japanese doctors in one of Kunduz Province clinics. He said: “The operation was successful and currently Rustam Mahmoudi feels well.”
On the evening of 16 May, so far unidentified persons shot on the car of the Tajik Consul to Badakhshan. As a result of the attack, the diplomat was wounded.
The incident is being investigated by Afghan and Tajik law enforcement structures. No armed group so far has claimed responsibility for attacking the Tajik diplomat’s vehicle.
Tajikistan has an embassy in Kabul, as well as consulates in Mazar-i-Sharif, Kunduz, and Fayzabad.
