DUSHANBE, December 9, 2015, Asia-Plus – By president’s order two transport helicopters of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) will be used to carry humanitarian aid to the quake-affected residents of the Bartang Valley in the Rushan district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Niloufar Aslamshoyeva, a spokeswoman for the GBAO regional administration, told Asia-Plus today morning.
According to her, the current state of Lake Sarez and Usoy dam is stable and does not pose any threat.
Meanwhile, a special commission which has been set up to assess the actual damage caused by the earthquake to the region and led by Deputy Prime Minister Azim Ibrohim, has left for Khorog.
GBAO Governor Shodikhon Jamshed is currently in the Bartang Valley, which was hit the most by recent strong earthquake, the spokeswoman said.
