DUSHANBE, February 22, 2016, Asia-Plus – Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan, has met with Mr. Alexander Zuev, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative, to discuss the disaster risk management problems, according to the CES press center.
The two, in particular, discussed issues related to improvement of the CES material and technical base and training personnel to the CES.
Nazarzoda and Zuev also exchanged views on development and implementation of special disaster risk reduction programs, the source said.
We will recall that the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Tajikistan was established as part of the State Commission for Emergency Situations of the Government of Republic of Tajikistan in March 2012.
The Platform serves a consultative and advisory body for coordinating the activities of organizations working on disaster risk management in Tajikistan. The capacity building of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is supported by UNDP with SDC funding.
