A large rockfall has damaged four houses in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
“A large rockfall hit the Tem neighborhood in Khorog in the evening of January 28. Four houses were partially damaged; fortunately no injured was reported," Naim Mirakov, the acting head of the GBAO emergency management agency, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Recall, an avalanche hit six houses in Khorog’s Bizmich neighborhood on the same day. No injured was reported as all residents were opportunely evacuated to safe place. Currently, a special commission is working to assess the actual damage caused by the avalanche to the houses.
