Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on February 17 received telegrams of condolences over the deadly avalanches in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
The Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Zhang Ming, says in his message of condolences, “With a feeling of deep sorrow, I received the news of the avalanches on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, which resulted in human casualties and numerous destructions.
“I express hope for the speedy overcoming of the consequences of the natural disaster in the affected areas.
“Please accept, dear Mr. President, my deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.”
The telegram of condolences from Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reads: “With deep sorrow, I received the news of numerous human casualties, injuries and destruction as a result of avalanches in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province of the Republic of Tajikistan.
“At this difficult moment, on behalf of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, as well as on my own behalf, I ask you to convey the words of empathy and support to all the families and friends of the victims, as well as the wishes of a speedy recovery to the injured.”
Emomali Rahmon also received telegram of condolences from presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
