DUSHANBE, March 16, Asia-Plus - A large consignment of contraband cellular phones was detained at the Dushanbe airport in early March.
Parviz Sheraliyev, head of the contraband-prevention department of the Ministry of State Revenues and Tax Collections, has told Asia-Plus that the contraband cellphones were found during customs control of the flight Sharja-Dushanbe.
“Citizen of Tajikistan tried to illegally transported 128 Nokia and Motorola cellphones for a total amount of 100,000 Somonis (equivalent to US$31,000) by this flight,” Mr. Sheraliyev said, adding that such a large consignment of contraband cellphones was detained for the first time.
