KHUJAND, March 17, Asia-Plus - The Sughd regional court has sentenced Akmal Saydaliyev, resident of the Hamadoni district (Khatlon province), to seventeen years’ imprisonment for drug trafficking.   .

            According to information from the Sughd regional court, Akmal Saydaliyev in October 2002 purchased 120 kilograms of raw opium from Afghan citizen Mullo Ahmad and then brought the drugs to the Tajik northern city of Chkalovsk for the purpose of pushing.  

“He managed to sell 20 kilograms of the opium and the remaining drugs were stored in the house of local resident Rahmatullo Boboyev,” said the source, “On January 20, 2003 officers from the Drug Control Agency’s directorate for Sughd detained Akmal Saydaliyev and confiscated the remaining 101.521 kilograms of the drugs.”
