KHOROG, July 14, Asia-Plus - Over the first six months of this year, 251 crimes have been registered in Gorno Badakhshan, which is 7.7 percent fewer compared to the same period of 2005, deputy GBAO police department chief, Bandali Bandaliyev remarked at a meeting in Khorog on July 13.
The meeting was held to sum the results of work carried out by local police in January-June this year.
At the same time, Mr. Bandaliyev noted that number of traffic accidents in the region had practically doubled over the same six-month period. “14 traffic accidents took place in Gorno Badakhshan in January-June this year, killing 9 people and leaving 15 others with wounds,” said Bandaliyev, “It is almost twice as much compared to the same period of 2005.”
