DUSAHNBE, July 18, Asia-Plus -- 120 corruption-related crimes have been revealed in Tajikistan since the beginning of this year, Abdurasul Kholmurodov, the head of the anti-corruption department of the Prosecutor-general’s Office, said.
According to him, 65 criminal proceedings have been instituted against 82 persons charged with corruption over the same six-month period. Kholmurodov says damage caused by these crimes to the country’s economy has amounted to more than 451,000 Somonis.
He added that the majority of the corruption-related crimes had been revealed in Sughd and Khatlon provinces.
According to Mr. Kholmurodov, the health and education sectors remain the most corrupt spheres in Tajikistan.
