KULOB, September 21, Asia-Plus -- A prosecutor’s office in Kulob has brought charges against a couple in the Muminobod district, Firuza Umarova and Karim Najotov, under four articles of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code: Article 135 (libel); Article 136 (insulting); Article 247 (fraud) and Article 330 (insulting official representatives of power).
Anvar Rahmonov an investigator with the Kulob prosecutor’s office, at present they still face charge of libel.
According to him, Firuza Umarova and her husband, Karim Najotov, have applied to the prosecutor’s office stating that one of their fellow-villagers allegedly raped her. “However, the trial has not confirmed this fact,” Anvar Rahmonov said.
