DUSHANBE, November 22, Asia-Plus -- The trail of two residents of the Qubodiyon district in Khatlon, Komiljon Huseinov and Komiljon Botirov, began in Tajikistan’s Supreme Court on November 21.
Proceedings started with the reading of the indictment, which charges Huseinov and Botirov with killing of Major-General Hokimsho Hofizov, head of the Tajik Defense Ministry’s military academy, in January this year, terrorism, illegal possession of weapons, banditry, participation in coup attempt, robbery and other crimes.
Judge Shavkat Abdulkhairov, taking in the trial, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that told Asia-Plus that the preliminary investigation has established that they killed Hokimsho Hofizov after he had refused to join mutinous Colonel Mahmoud Khudoiberdiyev.
Major-General Hokimsho Hofizov was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Dushanbe on January 27 this year. Hofizov, 42, had been the head of Tajikistan''s military academy since 1998
