KHUJAND, February 13, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Sughd customs directorate have worded off an attempt by smugglers to transport more than 2 kilograms of heroin, Asia-Plus has learned at the Sughd customs directorate.
The source at the Sughd customs directorate said that they had received information from Dushanbe that certain persons want to smuggle a large amount of drugs into Uzbekistan.
“Inspection of passengers of tax moving from Dushanbe to Khujand Tuesday evening found 2.102 kilograms of heroin and 62 gold wares weighing 350 grams,” the source said, noting that taxi driver Ulughbek Mudaffirov from Panjakent and his passenger Mukarama Hofizova from Kulob were arrested on suspicion of having been involved in smuggling drugs and jewelries.
