KHUJND, June 13, Asia-Plus -- A military in the Sughd province has sentenced the chief of the frontier post Punuk in Sughd’s Asht district, Senior Lieutenant Zavqibek Ashourov, to a long jail term for killing.
The Sughd military court on June 12 ruled that Zavqibek Ashourov be given a jai term of 24 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony. The sentence followed his conviction on charge of murder.
The court also sentenced two local residents – Gulchehra Azamova and 17-year-old Farshed Mahmoudov – to 25 years and seven years in prison respectively.
The source at the Sughd military court said that Ashourov, Azamova and Mahmoudov had been found guilty of killing 16-year-old resident of the Punuk jamoat Mirrajab Usmonov.
According to the source, they killed Usmonov in June last year and his dead body was found in February 2008.
Gulchehra Azamova faced charges under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code - Article 104 (killing) and Article 141 (sexual intercourse with persons under 16). She was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The 17-year-old Farshed Mahmoudov faced charge of killing and got a jail term of seven years.
