KULOB, June 21, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Kulob anticorruption directorate has instituted criminal proceedings against Juma Fayzov, the acting head of mahalla (village organization) of the village of Daraiob in Khatlon’s Shuroobod district, who faces charges of misappropriation of humanitarian aid provided by the WFP CO Tajikistan for the Daraiob population.
The source at the Kulob anticorruption directorate said that Fayzov faces charges of misappropriating 78 sacks of wheat flour, 87 liters of vegetable oil, and 87 kilograms of iodized salt.
“The preliminary investigation has established that Fayzov realized the flour at 105 somonis for a 50-kilogram sack and the vegetable oil at 7 somonis per liter and embezzled the made money,” the source said.
