DUSHANBE, June 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Tajik customs officers have warded off an attempt of taking a musket-pistol dated 18th century out from Tajikistan to Afghanistan.
According to press service of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, the pistol was found in luggage of the US national Lee Port (phonetically spelled) on inspection of persons proceeding via the crossing Nizhny Panj on June 20.
“Mr. Port did not have appropriate documents for taking the musket-pistol out of Tajikistan,” said the source, “The pistol was confiscated and Mr. Port was fined 350 somonis for violating the customs requirements.”
