DUSHANBE, July 1, Asia-Plus -- Rahmonali Kholov, the deputy chief of the police department in Khatlon’s Muminobod district, has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in bribery, Asia-Plus has learned at head office of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption in Dushanbe.
The source at the anticorruption agency said that Kholov had demanded $1,200 from a local resident for dropping criminal proceedings instituted against his son.
“Kholov has chosen one of entertainment centers in Dushanbe as lace for taking the bribe,” said the source. “After receiving the money, Kholov gave them to his buddy Zafar Islomov.”
Islomov was also detained as partner in crime, said the source. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them and an investigation is under way.
