KHUJAND, August 25, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A prosecutor’s office in Sughd’s Isfara district has instituted criminal proceedings against local resident, a 37-year-old Komiljon Abdulazizov, who was released from prison in 2006.
According to the Sughd police directorate, a 66-year-old resident of the Navgilem jamoat, Isfara district, MS. Bashorat Ashourova, has applied to the prosecutor’s office, saying that 40,000 Russian rubles and jewelry for 6,000 somonis were stolen from her house.
“The preliminary investigation has established that Komiljon Abdulazizov was involved in that theft,” the source at the Sughd police directorate said.
In 1997, Komiljon Abdulazizov was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for killing and he was released in 2006 under the amnesty law.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Abdulazizov under the provisions of Article 244, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – theft, and an investigation is under way.
