KHUJAND, October 9, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Two entrepreneurs in the Sughd province have got long jail terms for tax evasion and other crimes.
The Sughd regional court on October 8 ruled that Qozim Abdurahmonov, the director of the Khujand limited liability company ,Safo, and Ravshan Abdulloyev, the director of the Khujand limited liability company, Renascence-Trade, be given jail term of eleven years each and they should serve their sentence in a high-security penal colony.
The sentence followed their conviction on charges of abuse of authority by employees of commercial and other organizations, tax evasion, evasion of customs duty by a group of persons, contraband, and document forgery.
Justice Marhabo Turdimatova, who took in the trial, said Abdurahmonov and Abdulloyev were detained by officers from the Sughd anticorruption directorate on October 11, 2007.
