QURGHON TEPPA, November 4, Asia-Plus -- Mustafo Muminov, the head of the military service registry office within the housing and communal services directorate of the southern city of Sarband, Khatlon province, has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in bribery.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Izatullo Shamsulloyev, an official with the Sarband prosecutor’s office, said that Muminov was caught red-handed at the end of last week when he was taking US$500 from local resident Rizo Izzatov for issuing illegal military service record card for his brother.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Muminov under the provisions of Article 319 (acceptance of bribe) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
