KULOB, December 17, Asia-Plus -- 15 killings have been reported in Khatlon’s Kulob region in January-November 2008, the deputy Khatlon police directorate chief in charge of Kulob region, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdurahmon Buzmakov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, all those killings have been solved. “Over the report period, we have also solved five killings that had been committed in the previous years, and of 213 criminal having been wanted by police since January 2008, 98 have been detained by December 16.”
In all, 764 crimes have been registered in all ten districts of the Kulob region over the same eleven-month period, which is 54 cases fewer than in the same period of last year. The number of grave crimes has also reduced compared to 2007. “Six rape cases, 234 thefts, six robberies, 60 fraud cases and three cases of extortion have been registered in region since the beginning of this year,” Buzmakov said.
“This year, four criminals have been sentenced to life imprisonment and dozens of others have got jail terms of 20 to 28 years,” he noted,
