KHUJAND, April 18, Asia-Plus -- Commander of company at one of military units deployed in the Sughd province, Captain Mansour Sulaymonov, has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for bribery and abuse of office.
The Khujand military court on April 17 ruled that Captain Sulaymonov be given a jail term of 3.5 year ant that he should serve it in a medium-security penal colony.
The source at the Khujand military court told Asia-Plus that the captain had been found guilty of taking bribe and abusing office.
“The investigation has established that Sulaymonov exempted private soldier Rustam Shukurov from military service and for that Shukurov paid 180 somoni to Captain Sulaymonov each month from January 20, 2008 to November 29, 2008,” the source said.
The soldier was sentenced to one year of probation.
