DUSHANBE, May 4, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Resident of Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district has been detained for an attempt to give bribe to local police officer, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
“Captain H. Sabourov, an officer from the Bobojonghafurov police department, reported to the police department chief on May 1 that local resident Turunov had offered him bribe for dropping criminal case instituted against his son-in-law Abduvosit Evadulloyev,” said the source at a MoI, “Turunov was caught red-handed when he was giving 100,000 Uzbek som and 500 US dollars to the officer.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Turunov and an investigation is under way.
