KHUJAND, July 16, 2009, Asia-Plus -- More than 1,800 crimes have been reported in Sughd province over the first six months of this year compared with 1,764 crimes reported in region in the same period of 2008, according to the Sughd police directorate.
In the meantime, there was a 6.5 percent reduction of the number of reported serous crimes compared to January-June 2008.
The number of reported rapes decreased by 46.7 percent over the report period. There was a 51.1 percent reduction of the number of reported robberies and the number of thefts reported during the first half-year of 2009 decreased by 6.7 percent.
Over the same six-month period, 85 crimes have been committed by minors, which is 13.3 percent fewer than in the same period of last year.
Compared to January-June 2008 crime detection has increased by 2.4 percent.
