KHUJAND, July 30, 2009, Asia-Plus /Mavlouda Rafiyeva/ -- Over the first six months of this year, courts in Sughd province have sentenced 980 people, including 124 women and 35 minors, to the different types of punishment, Murodjon Rajabov, the head of the Council of justice’s department for Sughd, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, 522 people have been sentenced to different jail terms, 105 others have been sentenced to various terms of correctional labor, 120 people have been fined, 180 people have been put on probation and 53 people have been sentenced to other types of punishment.
“In all, city and districts in Sughd have considered 1,166 criminal proceedings over the report period,” said Rajabov, “Sentences have been passed on 810 cases, 33 criminal cases have been dropped and 13 others have been remitted for further inquiry.”
