KHUJAND, September 24, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Sughd customs directorate have seized a large consignment of expensive alcohol drinks illegally transported into the province from Kyrgyzstan.
The source at the Sughd customs directorate said that the contraband alcohol drinks were found during an operation carried out by customs officers on the territory of the enterprise Glavsnab not far from the highway Khujand-Ghafurov on September 23.
“200 bottles of expensive alcohol drinks such as “Martini,” Black Label,” “Hennessy” and others were found in a truck Damas,” said the source, “These alcohol drinks were illegally transported into Sughd by a Khujand resident from neighboring Kyrgyzstan.”
Legal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 597 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code.
