DUSHANBE, October 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- Officers from the Interior Ministry directorate fro combating organized crime have reportedly exposed an organized criminal group comprising employees of the department for serving government institutions within the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) told Asia-Plus today that the treasurer of the mentioned department jointly with four employees of the department embezzled more than 831,000 somoni (equivalent to more than 190,000 U.S. dollars) in 2007-2008.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt employees and an investigation is under way.
