KHUJAND, October 29, 2009, Asia-Plus -- An officer at the Khujand airport border control point has got a long jail term for drug trafficking.
The Khujand military court considered criminal proceedings instituted against Odiljon Eshonqulov, an officer at the Khujand border control point, and the resident of Sughd’s Spitamen district Davron Soliyev yesterday and ruled that they be given a jail term of nine years each and that they will serve their terms in a high-security penal colony. The sentenced followed their conviction on the charges of drug trafficking, fraud and abuse of office.
The source at the Khujand military court told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon that Eshonqulov and Soliyev were detained in June this year when they were attempting to transport 333 grams of heroin by plane to Moscow.
