DUSHANBE, December 21, 2009, Asia-Plus -- An officer from the Jilikul prosecutor’s office, Khatlon province has been detained on suspicion of asking and taking bribe, according to the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
The source at the anticorruption agency said that Abdurahmon Qaraulov, an investigator with the Jilikul prosecutor’s office, was caught red-handed at the end of last week when he was taking bribe (6,000 U.S. dollars) from local resident for dropping criminal cases instituted against his relative.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Qaraulov and an investigation is under way.
