Khujand. June 24. “Asia-Plus” -- Regional court of Sughd District has found four residents of Sughd region guilty of being members of Khizb-ut-Takhrir extremist movement.
According to reliable source from the Sughd regional court, Gulomjon Zakirov and Ismoilbek Mamedov were sentenced to 17 years in prison. Shukhrat Sharipov, another member of the organization, was convicted to 18 years in prison. Alisher Majidov got two years of imprisonment.
“They all found guilty of attempts to overthrow the constitutional order and extremist activity,” a court official said.
Another trial against 10 suspected members of Khizb-ut-Takhrir is expected to start in Khujand soon.
