KHUJAND, July 3, 2010, Asia-Plus -- More than 283 kilograms of narcotics have been seized in the northern Sughd province in a special operation carried out by the law enforcement officers.
According to the Sughd police directorate, a car Opel-Vectra driven by Zoirsho Noyobov, resident of GBAO’s Shugnan district, was stopped on the territory of the H. Usmon jamoat in Bobojonghafurov district on July 2. When searching the car, police officers found three boxes containing 100 kilograms of hashish. Besides, 0.7 gram of heroin were confiscated from Noyobov.
“The preliminary investigation has established that Noyobov took those 100 kilograms of hashish for pushing from Dushanbe resident Zafar Khojadavlatov on June 30,” said the source, “Khojadavlatov was also detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. Following testimony by Khojadavlatov, 7 packages containing 10 kilograms of heroin and some 173 kilograms of hashish were found in a garage in Khujand’s neighborhood 18.”
It has also been established that the 23-year-old resident of Vahdat district Atkham Bagadirov transported those 283 kilograms of narcotics from Khorog to Khujand on his heavy truck KAMAZ. Bagadirov was also arrested.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Noyobov, Khojadavlatov and Bagadirov under the provisions of Article 200, Point 4 (drug trafficking) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
