DUSHANBE, July 14, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Police officers have seized counterfeit Russian rubles in Dushanbe, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI says a 30-year-old resident of Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan), Abdusattor Sharipov, who has previous convictions for thefts, was detained in Dushanbe yesterday and a number of counterfeit Russian-ruble banknotes (one 5000-ruble banknote, one 1000-ruble banknote, and 13 500-ruble banknotes) were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sharipov and an investigation is under way
