KULOB, July 16, 2010, Asia-Plus -- In a report released at a press conference in Kulob, the chief of the Kulob anticorruption department Muzaffar Safarov revealed on July 15 that according to findings by the anticorruption department, corruption has cost the Kulob zone of Khatlon province at 678,456 million somoni in the first half-year of 2010.
According to him, 573,652 somoni of that amount have already been reimbursed.
“Inspections carried out by the anticorruption officers over the report period have revealed 41 corruption-related violations in the area, which is 16 cases more than in the same period last year,” Safarov said, noting of those 41 violation, 21 have been revealed in Vose district and 11 others have been revealed in Shuroobod district.
