KHUJAND, October 27, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Supreme Court has sentenced Ashour Ruziyev, a judge from the Qairoqqum city court, to seven years in prison, according to the Sughd anticorruption directorate.
The sentenced followed his conviction on the charges of bribery.
“Investigation has established that on February 15, 2010 the judge demanded US$1,000 from the sister of the convicted woman, who was liable to amnesty, for documents certifying the release of her sister,” the source said, noting that Ruziyev was caught red-handed while taking the bribe.
