KHUJAND, January 19, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- Hilola Otayeva, 34, from Shahriston district faces human trafficking charge.

According to the Sughd police directorate, the Khujand prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against under her under the provisions of Article 130 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – trafficking in persons.

The source says Otayeva in May 2010 took the 28-year-old resident of Khujand, G.A., to Moscow and from there to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), promising her job, but the woman Otayeva recruited was actually intended for UAE brothels.  “The woman was forced into prostitution when she arrived in Dubai and Otayeva got US$20,000 out of that from June to September 2010,” the source noted.
