DUSHANBE, January 20, 2011, Asia-Plus // -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized a large amount of opium in Tursunzoda district, the DCA press service reports.
An operation carried out by the drug control officers in Tursunzoda yesterday led to the arrest of local resident on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. Five packages containing narcotic drug that was tested positive to raw opium weighing almost four kilograms were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler under the provisions of Article 200 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – illegal storage and sale of narcotic drug, and an investigation is under way.
