DUSHANBE, May 12, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- A regular meeting of the Coordinating Council of Law Enforcement Agencies of Tajikistan, presided over by Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda, took place on May 11.

The meeting participants included senior representatives from the interior ministry, national security committee, anticorruption agency, counternarcotics agency, customs service, tax committee and the Supreme Court.

The results of implementation of the country’s law on investigation and search operations over 2010 and the first four months of this year were a major topic of the meeting.

The meeting participants noted that among the main achievements made by the country’s law enforcement authorities over the report period were providing peace and stability in society, protection of rights of citizens, maintenance of public order and neutralization of a number of organized crime groups.

At the same time, activities of the investigation and search services on detecting and preventing crimes related to terrorism, deliberate murders, drug trafficking and illegal land use were assessed as not sufficiently satisfactory.
