DUSHANBE, June 30, Asia-Plus -- Afghan national has been detained with more than 40 kilograms of drugs in the southern Khatlon province.
The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says Afghan national Aziz waladi Sohibkhon, 22, was detained in the city of Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province on June 29 on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. Four packages containing some 16 kilograms of heroin and more than 24 kilograms of cannabis were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way.
Tajik law enforcement authorities have reportedly seized more than 1,300 kilograms of narcotics since the beginning of this year.
