DUSHANBE, October 27, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan have seized a large amount of heroin in Dushanbe.
An operation carried out by drug control officers on October 26 led to the seizure of some eight kilograms of heroin in Dushanbe, the DCA press center reported.
“When searching vehicle belonging to Dushanbe resident, drug control officers found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some eight kilograms,” said the source. “The preliminary investigation has established that the heroin belonged to two passengers in the car; one of them has previous convictions for drug trafficking.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pushers and an investigation is under way.
