KHUJAND, January 21, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Kyrgyz national has been jailed in the Tajik northern province of Sughd for drug trafficking.
The Isfara city court sentenced Kyrgyz national Abdulhakim Matibraimov, 46, to 14 years in prison on January 20. The sentence followed his conviction on charges of attempted crime (Article 32 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code), smuggling (Article 289 (2), and drug trafficking (Article 200 (4). Matibraimov will serve his term in a high-security penal colony.
Matibraimov was reportedly detained in the village of Lakkon, Isfara district last October and a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 20 kilograms was confiscated from him.
