DUSHANBE, February 3, 2012, Asia-Plus – A February 2 meeting of the Interior Ministry (MoI), presided over by Minister of Interiors Ramazon Rahimov, reportedly reviewed cases of delinquencies committed by police officers.
An official source at a MoI says criminal proceedings have been instituted against eight police officers this month alone.
According to him, the minister reported at the meeting that activities of police subdivisions should be improved in the shortest time and set precise tasks to improve the situation.
A number of high-ranking police officers were dismissed for shortcomings in the work. Among them are Captain Ilhom Fayzov, the head of the anti-drug squad within the police station in Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district and three officers from this police station – Captain Sharif Saidov, Senior Lieutenant Khurshed Boboyev and Senior Lieutenant Ismoil Ismoilov. Saidov, Boboyev and Ismoilov were dismissed for inflicting bodily inquiries on a person arrested on suspicion of having committed a crime.
Numerous shortcomings were also revealed in the work of the Interior Ministry visas and registration department (OVIR) and the traffic police directorate.
Habubullo Majidov, the chief of the special police unit “Vohidi Makhsous,” was reprimanded and warned that more strict measures would be taken against him if he fail to improve his work.
