In the course of today’s session of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan of the fourth convocation deputies of the Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament have approved a series of amendments to the law “On executive procedure”.

Tajik Justice Minister Rustam Mengliev said that the amendments seek to improve the role of court marshals in society. The amendments were specified by the ongoing Government’s legal reform.

“The newly approved amendments empower court marshals to forbid indebted citizens travel abroad,” Justice Minister said. “From now on marshals are also empowered to delay payment of debts and fines.”

Without any discussion deputies of the Lower Chamber have approved amendments to the law “On state protection of persons involved in criminal proceedings.”

According to Tajik Deputy Interior Minister Nurullo Oripov, in line with these amendments the state will protect persons who provide assistance in the course of investigation of criminal cases from potential threats to their and their family members’ health and lives.
