KHUJAND, October 11, 2012, Asia-Plus -- A woman from Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province has got a long jail term for drug pushing.
A court in the city of Khujand (Sughd province) sentenced M.Sh., 40, to nine years in prison on October 11. The sentence followed her conviction on the charges of drug trafficking, smuggling and criminal attempt.
She was reportedly detained by officers from the Sughd regional organized crime control division in Khujand on May 27 this year on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
The source says M.Sh. was going to travel to Russia with drugs in her stomach when she was arrested in Khujand’s neighborhood # 34. More than 500 grams of heroin were confiscated from her, the source said.
